ABOUT ACRA

Our team is open for everyone to join, regardless of experience. In fact, most of our rowers tried the sport for the first time here at Amherst!

We practice daily on the beautiful Connecticut River, and our boathouse is located in Northampton right under the Route 9 Bridge. We compete year-round, with 6k regattas in the fall, land-training in the winter, and 2k regattas in the spring. We finish off the season by competing in the New England Rowing Championships! Daily practices are held in the evenings, and you can read more about our schedule in the Prospective Rowers section of the website.

Despite our club status, we train at the same intensity as a Division 3 varsity program. Our goal is to be competitive with some of the fastest D3 crews in New England (and in the country), and that takes a whole lotta commitment. Don't let that scare you! Our goal is to improve together, whether that's getting faster, stronger, perfecting technique or improving unity in the boat.

If you're new to the sport, don't worry, we spend the fall season helping the new rowers learn the sport and work on developing technique. The winter and spring seasons are times to focus on gaining fitness and speed, both on and off the water. We are committed to making sure everyone finds an inclusive community on our team, pushes themselves to learn something new, and most importantly to have fun. When we work together, focus on teamwork, and support each other we all grow togther.
